Best in class core analysis on thin bed reservoir rock

Thin bed reservoirs are not uncommon nowadays, however their exploration and appraisal is still a big challenge and requires the adoption of new methods and technologies. A large amount of log and core data should be collected and analysed to achieve the true understanding of geological facies and the nature of heterolithic intervals. In Woodside we use DUAL-ENERGY COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY and high end workflows for the most precise NET determination. Continuous high resolution log measurements of physical properties from image and dielectric tools are required for correlation between DECT, Log and Core data. In addition to high resolution log data, core studies are essential and should be fit-for-purpose to define dynamic heterogeneity and resolve thin beds challenge. In this presentation, we will demonstrate how DECT fits within our workflows and how we conduct core analyses to ensure excellent plug recovery and outstanding correlation between log and core data.
